The collaboration resulted in Chef Watson, an AI-powered system capable of analyzing vast amounts of ingredient and flavor data. 

Chef Watson doesn’t replace the human chef’s intuition but instead empowers it. “For a chef, creating flavor pairs is natural, but seeing ingredients matched in larger groups and understanding the science — the shared compounds that make these foods taste good together — is revolutionary.”, according to ICE’s James Briscione.

Students and professional chefs alike can use this system to explore unconventional, data-backed ingredient and flavor combinations. This type of AI integration fosters innovation in culinary students, while also providing a deeper educational experience around the science of taste and flavor pairing.

Tastewise + Basque Culinary Center

A new partnership between Tastewise and the Basque Culinary Center in Spain further highlights AI’s real-world culinary applications to students who will utilize the latter’s AI platform to analyze food trends and translate insights into marketable culinary ideas.  

Through this collaboration, students will also learn from industry experts and gain practical experience in implementing AI-based technologies in real-world culinary settings. By understanding the potential of AI in areas such as recipe development, menu planning, and personalized dining experiences, they will be prepared to shape the future of gastronomy with their ideas and expertise.
